I have found the Anatolian Shepherd to be the ultimate in livestock guard dogs. They are loyal and hard working, not to mention handsome. The pups below were acquired by Shefaro from the Crockett Charolais Ranch where they were raised around cattle. The Pinto Anatolians were raised at Shefaro where live with sheep and goats.

As well as growing top quality hay, we strive to raise excellent quality Brangus cattle, working Anatolian Shepherds, and heritage Spanish goats. Since we live in an area of very hot and humid summers, we decided to focus our cattle herd on the Brangus breed, known for their excellent ability to manage our extreme summer temperatures. For the same reasons, we decided on Spanish goats and we turned to the Anatolian Shepherd to guard over the stock and protect them from the large population of predators in our meadows and forests.

We acquired our first Anatolian Shepherd Dog in 2009 from the world famous Sakarya Anatolians in Alpine, CA. We look forward to continuing our journey with this wonderful breed. The first Solana Anatolian litter is planned for 2015, under the guidance of our mentors at Sakarya.
In our experience, we have found Anatolians to be very loving & affectionate dogs who respond well to positive reinforcement. They are eager to do what is right and please you, but are independent thinkers and may not always come when you call!

Recently we have added our AKC/ASDCA Anatolian Shepherds to our Boer Goat operation and couldn’t be any happier. We currently have a dual registered AKC/ASDCA Female (Bellina) that is 19 months and a Male (Deebo) that is 16 months old. These two dogs are doing outstanding and have already been free roaming with the goats on 25 acres.
Most Anatolian pups are trained in guarding livestock by the older guardians. These two pups have simply relied on pure guardian instinct and methods I’ve practiced from raising livestock guardians. Both of these two dogs parents are in fact livestock guardians which is a must when purchasing guardian pups. Prior to purchasing these dogs we lost three kids and have not had a single loss since. Keep in mind these dogs are guarding from four legged predators and two legged predators as well.
