NASRN is dedicated to placing unwanted, displaced and abandoned Anatolian Shepherd Dogs(ASDs) into safe, caring homes. Anatolian crosses will be included in our efforts as we believe crosses not only have many of the unique needs/characteristics of purebred Anatolians, but are often born due to the lack of responsibility on the part of the owners of purebred Anatolians.

Our organization is comprised of ASD owners, both working and pet homes. We have joined together in an effort to help homeless and displaced Anatolians find a new lease on life.

The ASDCA, Inc. was founded in 1970 and is the official parent club in the United States for the Anatolian Shepherd Dog. Since its founding, the ASDCA has shared the great joy and responsibility of living with these magnificant and ancient dogs.

We are proud to announce that the Anatolian Shepherd Dog is the 144th breed to be recognized by AKC. On June 12, 1995, the American Kennel Club announced formal recognition of the Anatolian Shepherd Dog, effective to be shown in the Miscellaneous Class beginning June 1, 1996. On August 12, 1998, the American Kennel Club granted full recognition to the Anatolian Shepherd Dog effective June 1, 1999 (entered the Working Group). Anatolian Shepherd Dogs are registered by the American Kennel Club and/or the Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America, Inc.

Anatolian Shepherd Dogs are regarded as flock guardians of the mountain molossian-type by the FCI. Large, rugged and impressive, they possess great endurance and agility. These dogs are tall and powerful, yet not massive in build. This magnificent ancient working dog presents an impression of functional utility without exaggerated features. Large size is important, but correct breed type, soundness of movement, overall balance with correct temperament should be given precedence so as to preserve working ability.

The Anatolian Shepherd Dog Rescue League Inc, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, is dedicated to the health and well being of all pure-bred Anatolian Shepherd Dogs. Our main objectives are to contribute to the educational process by encouraging responsible breeding and responsible dog ownership, and to work with Anatolian breeders and other rescue organizations in the placement and re-homing of rescued purebred Anatolian Shepherd Dogs. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every pure-bred Anatolian Shepherd Dog has the chance to live a life that they deserve.
